I attended the Pre-Conference on Thursday. The morning workshop introduced Glogster to an excited group of teacher-librarians. I have used this web tool before, but it always great to have an opportunity to see how others use it and get new ideas. This tool allows students to create multi-media, interactive posters. The afternoon session was led by Julie Hembree, a teacher-librarian from Redmond. She showed us the power of book trailers for students' interest in reading as well as creating. Her trailer about the book The One and Only Ivan inspired her students to create their own trailers. She even had the author comment on the trailer and plan a visit to the school!( See the book trailer below.)
On Saturday it was my turn to be a presenter. I hosted a session on using the Iditarod to engage students. Attendees of the session were highly interested in using this event in their curriculum. Click here to see the presentation.
