"Achiase Children’s Home was opened by Mr. Sam and Mama Sarah about 5 years ago after they realized there was a large number of children in the town and surrounding area that were not receiving the care or education that they deserve. They opened up their own home and now care for about 40 children including 4 of their own. They also opened a school next to the orphanage for the children at the orphanage as well as about 100 other children from the surrounding area."
Molly is planning to return in 2014 and is sharing Achiase Children's Home's story to raise awareness of the their work and their needs. This children's home is run by volunteers and receives no financial support from the government. It is a struggle for these volunteers to provide the basics of life for these children. Molly has been doing fund-raising. She has set a goal of raising $15,000 to provide the following:
food, school fees, school supplies, medical bills, repairs at the orphanage, electricity and water bills, new clothing for the children, and assisting me with some of my expenses.
While she is in Ghana working at the children's home she will be helping shop for and prepare meals, assisting in the daily running of the orphanage, teaching budgeting skills, assisting students with homework, tutoring special needs children, basic care of the children, and cleaning and organizing the orphanage.
So far, Molly has raised $7,800 through support from a variety of businesses and individuals. Information about donating to Molly's project is provided below.
