Family Reading Night was a tremendous success! Thanks to
Ms. Herber & Mrs. Hews for their valuable assistance. It was so encouraging to see so many young children with their moms and dads - dads especially! I'll not forget the charming picture of Pablo and his dad reading together. The children were so excited. Despite this, though, many of them managed to settle in and read!
Nina Laden's visit was a huge success! She captivated all the children from Kindergarten ers to Eighth Graders. See earlier post to find out more about this event.
A great big THANK YOU to all the families who made the Usborne Book Fair successful. We earned over $1000 in free books for our library and teachers. Some of the books will go to the Books for Kids Without Books. This collection of gently used and new books will be sent to a school in the Philippines by Ms. Herber. She visited this school two years ago. Stop by and read their letters and see pictures. These children were so grateful and delighted to have the supplies Ms. Herber sent last year. I know they will be treasure the books we send.
Middle School Reading Night is Tuesday. Students in 6th to 8th grades are invited to read, play games, explore coding, experiment with iPad apps while enjoying some suitable-for-the-library snacks.
Thursday is the Reading Logs day! Turn in your reading logs so you can be part of the fun next Monday when Mrs. Edwards is taped to the wall. Remember.... all students who make their reading goals AND return their reading logs will get to participate.
(BTW... My husband thinks I might be a "little bit crazy" for thinking up this idea!)
