Welcome to the Music Department!
Keely Rogel is delighted to have the opportunity to work with the Saint Matthew School Community! After several year of traipsing about on some fairly interesting stages, with some rather incredible talent (them, not me—I was ok, but not just chopped liver!), the opportunity to teach music was presented. Keely began her teaching career in 2001 at St. Luke School, where all three of her daughters had the pleasure of being taught music by their own mother (no one was hurt in this endeavor.) Keely has taught at Our Lady of the Lake, Bishop Blanchet High School, St. George and is concurrently teaching the Primary Music program at Holy Rosary School in Edmonds. The children have been instructed to call her the “Lovely Mrs. Rogel.” Lovely Mrs. Rogel was one of the last out the BA in music door at Seattle University in 1981 (now you have to be a violin, which I am most assuredly am not,) and earned her Level One Kodaly Certification at SPU’s graduate school of music in 2003. She has 3 grown daughters, Allie, Madison and Caroline and is married to the Lovely Mr. Rogel. Together they own the Deluxe Bar and Grill on Capitol Hill, where Mrs. Rogel spent many happy hours as an undergraduate before she married it--- who knew? Still teaching private voice lessons, any former school student who wants help with a high school audition is welcome to come for preparation without a fee.
